When booking these activities, we recommend visiting (or staying at) Sam’s VIP hostel (Purple pin on map). They are super helpful when it comes to booking and arranging transport for the below. We are not affiliated with them in any way, we just loved our stay! Any hostel that offers free towels, coffee and fruit at a reasonable nightly price are A Ok with us! (Disclaimer they take 10,000 COP ~ £2.50 commission on each activity. This is included in the prices we state below, and in our opinion is 100% worth taking the hassle out of organising the activities yourself.)
The price includes two-way transfers, personal safety instructor who walks you through everything in English, photos of your jump that they will WhatsApp you once complete and a Certificate!?
The Bungee itself is 70m high and takes place over the River Fonce, it is also SCARY AS HELL! However, the company know exactly what they’re doing having been running for 11 years and the rush of adrenaline is unbeatable!
2. Paragliding Price: 70,000 COP ~ £17
The price includes two way transfers, and a comprehensive English safety briefing. This one is weather dependent and if the conditions aren’t right it doesn’t run, and you get a refund (As happened to us… Twice!)
Once you do get in the air flight time is around 15 minutes and you get to see the beautiful varied landscapes including Las Vueltas Valley, Macaregua Farms and Chicamocha canyon in the distance.
3. Waterfall Rappelling Price: 60,000 COP ~ £15
This activity does not include transport but can be easily reached by catching a bus from San Gil Bus Terminal (Blue pin on map). You will need to get the bus heading to Charala but let the bus driver know you want to get off at Juan Curi Waterfall, the cost is 5000 COP ~ £1.30 each way.
Juan Curi Waterfall is 70 metres high, to begin with you will hike up to the top for roughly 20/30 minutes. The descent lasts as long as you make it but usually around 5 minutes, in which time you get absolutely drenched and get to take in some impressive views! The price also includes entry to the waterfall (usually 7000 COP) and at the end of the activity you are left to sunbathe and jump in the pools at the bottom.
These 3 are truly unbeatable, but if you’ve been to San Gil and found some better Adrenaline bargains then let us know in the comments below!
When I came to the decision that I wanted to travel, initially I had no clue what I was doing!? There was no guide and no obvious place to start… After days of searching the internet for everything I might possibly need, I set off on my journey. Only to find that flights several days later had been half the price, I’d massively overpacked and my accommodation although cheap was less than ideal, and so the ‘Simple Travel Steps’ seed was planted.
